TLfS and CERES were recently successful in receiving funds from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation to hold a community leadership course early in 2013.

The course will consist of 6 workshops and be delivered by the CERES Sustainability Education Outreach Group (a TLfS Facilitator with more than 10 years experience in community outreach and sustainability programs!).

The course aims to build sustainability and leadership knowledge, skills and confidence in the community.  Participants will gain leadership skills, community engagement and behaviour change expertise, project management experience and public speaking and presentation skills. Working in teams and individually, participants will complete a community based project that benefits their own local community.

Workshops will be delivered in the Melbourne Metropolitan area to participants from the general community who may be wishing to undertake a community project, but lack the skills and confidence to do so.

In addition, the project will include a research component to determine the learning and employability outcomes of the training program for participants.  A report of this research will be published and made available to the public, providing valuable guidelines for other community educators.

For more information about this course contact Briony Tronson, CERES Incursions Manager on 03 9389 0133.
