TLfS Overview - teachersThe TLfS Program is an exciting new initiative that aims to help all young people understand and appreciate the key principles of sustainability and to commit to incorporating these principles into their future lifestyles and workplaces. The TLfS Primary program is most appropriate for students in Years 5 and 6, and delivered as an integrated unit. The TLfS Secondary program is most suitable for Years 7-10 and there are several ways of incorporating the TLfS program into the secondary curriculum. For example as:
We suggest that when delivering both the Primary and Secondary TLfS programs, that you work collaboratively with other teachers in the school – eg. Principal, Career Coordinators and/or Enterprise teachers. This group could be either part of or a sub-committee of the Curriculum or Sustainability Committee of the school. You could also form an actual or virtual network with other schools participating in the TLfS program. A list of participating schools is listed in the Members section of this website. An important aspect of the TLfS Program is its potential to build strong partnerships between schools, industry groups, government departments and community organisations. These partnerships will not only benefit all students involved in the TLfS Program, but will enable partner organisations to show their commitment to a sustainability initiative within their local community. We suggest that you speak with interested groups in your community and invite them to contribute their support to the TLfS Program. A list of participating national organisations with local branches is listed in the Members section of this website. All schools and/or community groups who participate in the TLfS program are asked to pay a license fee to cover costs associated with the delivery workshops and associated resource materials. This fee enables them to become a TLfS Member and access further information from the Member’s section of this website. Go to the Members section of this website of this website to read more about the costs involved in participation in the TLfS program.
